This video is a parody of the attitudes and behavior of the extraction orthodontics industry from its inception around 1940, up to the present day.

The imagery featured consists of unaltered patient photos as published by the founder of extraction orthodontics Dr Charles H. Tweed in his seminal book “Clinical Orthodontics” (Volumes 1 and 2).

To this day, Charles Tweed is lauded as a legend within the industry, while many of the dubious practices he pioneered such as “four premolar extraction” and the use of retractive headgear in children are still widely used, despite disastrous patient outcomes and a lack of scientific evidence regarding both safety and long-term patient satisfaction.
